The bismillah is a verse which opens each of the suras of the Qu'ran, except for sura 9 which is probably an accidental detachment from sura 8. Oftentimes the beginning of an Arabic document will have a bismillah; this does not imply some religious righteousness to the document but merely declares that it was written by a Muslim, i.e., one who submits to God.

Arabic: بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Print transliteration: bismi-llāhi ar-raḥmāni ar-raḥīmi
Pronunciation: Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Rahim

Translation: In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

The Buddhist equivalent is namotassa.
