[edit] First year
I got there a little after everyone else because I didn't go on a prefrosh trip. A social disadvantage.
[edit] Fall 2006
Upon arriving at Carleton I attempted to make friends with everyone. This was something I had never done before and I was surprised that it was not entirely disastrous. I made a lot of acquaintances, and one person who actually did want to talk to me. I also got to know a guy who I met on Facebook pretty well. Another person who I also met on Facebook turned out to be a little less eloquent in real life. That's the way it goes, you know? Not everyone can be social butterflies.
[edit] Winter 2007
The person who wanted to talk to me stopped talking to me, and I learned about rejection. The person who is annoying in real life got even more annoying. My roommate also started to get really annoying. And I couldn't find a girlfriend for all my trying. But that's all the bad stuff out of the way-- this was actually a really good term. I made a bunch of new close friends of the kind I've never had before, and I went to parties for the first time. I learned how to have moderation in my devotion to schoolwork (maybe to an excess), ran a radio show at 4:30AM for a couple agonizing Sundays, and got to know my floormates better.
My geology teacher died this term and I went to both of his funerals.
[edit] Spring 2007
A classmate lent me her car and I went for a wild drive through town. I learned that I can't parallel park. Lots of drama happened with my friend, his roommate, and his girlfriend. I walked around with him a lot late at night. We went to the gas station on the highway.
[edit] Fall 2007
I kissed a girl on a first date and only then did she tell me she already had a boyfriend. I went to a conference about NAFTA and did a lot of Slow Food work. My friend from the above section got expelled.
[edit] Winter 2008
I pondered sadly about the Middle East trip that I didn't get to go on. Early Christian Thought was a pretty cool class.
[edit] Spring 2008
I got to second base drunkenly. I spent the rest of the term working on Daxyne. It would be funny to said that I also did this drunkenly but it's not true. The term ended with the construction of a Korean shrine in the Arboretum.
