The United States of America is an awesome country full of freedom. I'm not joking either. If you put down the USA you are a huge jerk.

[edit] Reasons why the United States is so awesome
- The United States respects free speech in ways most cultures would find totally looney. You can deny the Holocaust on TV, drive through the streets of Boston with a Confederate flag on your bumper, or call George Bush a baby rapist, and as long as you're not infringing on other people's rights (no loud music at 2AM, please) you won't get arrested.
- The United States doesn't make you pay for all sorts of useless crap in your taxes like they do in Europe. You have the choice of doing whatever you want with your money. Of course, this isn't as true as it used to be.
- The United States is a place where you can fight for your rights and get things fixed in government, even if most of the people are against you. The civil rights movement is the best example of this; the women's rights and gay rights movements are also inspiring.
- The United States deeply respects religion (it's stuck right next to free speech in our Constitution!) and allows people to practice their lives however they want. When Muslim Somalians come up to all-white Maine, the natives are friendly to a fault. Satanists are fine too. Hell, we even have Scientologists here. Even our awful President, for all his missteps, has made a point of welcoming immigrant Muslims after 9/11.

Why is the United States famous for its raucous politicians and street preachers? Are we pushy? No. Just loud. We take pleasure in free speech. George Saunders says it best in Persuasion Nation:
- What America is, to me, is a guy who doesn't want to buy, you let him not buy, you respect his not buying. A guy has a crazy notion different from your crazy notion, you pat him on the back and say Hey pal, nice crazy notion, let's go have a beer. America, to me, should be shouting all the time, a bunch of shouting voices, most of them wrong, some of them nuts, but please, not just one droning glamorous reasonable voice.
